The ground rules

Keep it useful. Keep it kind.

These Terms set the ground rules for using Hapje and sharing restaurant recommendations with your community.

EFFECTIVE 9 AUGUST 2026

The short version

Recommend places you genuinely want people you know to try. Respect the people in your community, do not misuse their content, and do not post anything unlawful or harmful.

Accepting these Terms

By creating an account or using Hapje, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. You must be at least 16 and legally able to agree to these Terms.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details secure and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for activity under your account. Contact support@hapje.app if you think someone else has access to it.

Private communities

Hapje is designed for recommendations among people who know each other. You may only join a community when invited or otherwise authorised. Do not share invite links outside the intended group or try to access another community without permission. “Private” means Hapje limits access to members. It cannot prevent a member from taking a screenshot or repeating something elsewhere.

What you can post

You keep ownership of photos, comments and other original content you create. You give Hapje a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, copy, resize and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for temporary backups and copies another user may already have made. Only upload content you have the right to use. Do not post private information about someone else without permission.

Community rules

Do not post harassment, threats, hate, explicit sexual content, impersonation, spam, fraud, malware, unlawful material or content that infringes someone else’s rights. Do not scrape Hapje, interfere with the service, bypass access controls or use automated tools without written permission. Recommendations should reflect a real experience or an honest reason for recommending the place. Hapje is not a place for paid or misleading endorsements.

Restaurant information

Restaurant names, addresses and other place data may come from users or third-party providers. Community photos come from Hapje members. This information can be incomplete or out of date. Check important details with the restaurant before travelling, booking or ordering. Hapje does not operate or endorse the restaurants shown in the app.

Third-party services

When Hapje displays Google Maps Platform content, your use of that content is also subject to Google Maps/Google’s Terms of Service. OpenStreetMap content is provided under its own copyright and licence terms. Those providers are responsible for their services.

Moderation

We may review reports and remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts or remove communities when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law or keep Hapje working. Serious or repeated violations may lead to permanent removal.

Ending your account

You may stop using Hapje at any time. You can permanently delete your account in the app under You → About & account → Delete account. You can also contact support@hapje.app from the email address connected to your account. We may end or suspend access when these Terms are broken or when the service must be discontinued.

Availability and changes

Hapje is provided on an “as available” basis. Features may change, pause or stop, and we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update these Terms when the product or law changes. Material changes will receive reasonable notice.

Responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, Hapje’s developer is not responsible for restaurant experiences, user content, third-party services, lost data, indirect losses or decisions made from information in the app. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liability that cannot legally be limited, including mandatory consumer rights.

Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, unless mandatory law where you live gives you additional protection. Please contact support@hapje.app first so we can try to resolve a concern informally.
